the one who conquers.

My name is Matthew. I'm 21 years old, and my life has been saved in every way by Jesus Christ. I am in my fourth year at Briercrest. I help out a pretty sweet ministry called Refined/Undignified with their social media, you should check them out. I love lots of things, more than I can list. Feel free to ask me stuff. No matter your situation, there is always hope. please know that you are so loved, right now and always.

re-reading the Hunger Games

How could so many people not know she was black? Collins isn’t vague about it whatsoever! She doesn’t use a vague term like “dark skin”, but “brown skin”. Both times that it introduces her…

And most hauntingly, a twelve-year-old girl from District 11. She has dark brown skin and eyes, … (pg 45)

She has bright, dark eyes and satiny brown skin… (pg 98)

I’d understand if it was vague and said “dark” skin… but it says brown.

I guess more discouraging than this is the stuff that was in the news about angry racist tweets when people found out that they’d mourned a person of colour. Racism sickens me. Skin colour should not be any indicator of worth or value. People are people. I love people/
